Thermocouple:
An electrical instrument that is used to measure the temperature. It consist of two dissimilar/different elements which are joined together to form a electrical junction (closed circuit). When the temperature is applied E.M.F is induced.
The value of induced E.M.F is different for different metal combinations and is proportional to the temperature difference of the junctions. When the junction experiences a change in temperature, a voltage is created. The voltage can then be interpreted using thermocouple reference tables to calculate the temperature. There are many types of thermocouples, each with its own unique characteristics in terms of temperature range, durability, vibration resistance, chemical resistance, and application compatibility. This is the basic thermocouple working principle.
Variations:
Thermocouples comes in various shapes and styles.
Thermocouple probes, Thermocouple probes with connectors, Transition joint thermocouple probes, Infrared thermocouples, Bare wire thermocouple or even just thermocouple wire.
